FOR THE LOVE OF METAL
Release: July 27, 2018
Dee Snider signed a deal with Napalm Records for his upcoming solo album ‘’For The Love Of Metal’’ produced by Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta and featuring contributions from Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage), Mark Morton (Lamb Of God), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Joel Grind and Nick Bellmore (Toxic Holocaust) and Charlie Bellmore (Kingdom Of Sorrow). ‘’For The Love Of Metal’’ was released on July 27th, 2018.
Snider comments about ‘’For The Love Of Metal’’: "This is a really incredibly exciting album that I did not expect to make, especially at this point in my life. Jamey Jasta challenged me to make a contemporary rock record. … and I rose to the challenge!“ The result is a full-on anthemic metal album indulging in modern heaviness without neglecting Snider`s Twisted Sister roots.
‘’Lies Are A Business’’ hits me in the face right away when the CD begins. It’s a nice, rhythmic, heavy metal song. Same goes for the second track, ‘’Tomorrow’s No Concern’’. You can the hear the old school influences, yet it sounds updated and fresh. ‘’I Am The Hurricane’’ is one of my least favourite tracks of ‘’For The Love Of Metal’’. The chorus is kind of boring and it feels like it’s more of a filler song than one with actual meaning.

For The Love of Metal
I guess that is more of less how I feel about the whole album. Every metal fan can easily appreciate heavy metal, but this record sounds very commercial. It is all just a bit too perfect for my likings, it doesn’t have any edge. There is one song I really like, and that is ‘’Dead Hearts (Love Thy Enemy)’’ which features Alissa White-Gluz. It is lovely to hear her clean vocals, with Arch Enemy’s repertoire you almost forget that her voice is extremely versatile.
My guess is that most of Snider’s audience will eat the album out of his hands, but I am not that easy to convince. I think it’s safe to say that ‘’For The Love Of Metal’’ will not be in my top ten of favourite albums that got released in 2018.
