RITUALS OF BLACK MAGIC
'Rituals Of Black Magic' is the fourth full-length release by Horror Rock sensation Deathless Legacy and the first concept album in their career. The album describes ancient black magic rituals in detail, with dosages, ingredients, processes and spells to cast. The occult grimoire consists of more than ten rituals, recovered from tomes hidden on the dusty shelves of the secret Vatican archives, snitched by the six monsters through the back door. Doing those rituals at home is not recommended and solely at your own risk!
Deathless Legacy introduce themselves as monsters on stage and off. As a grotesque shocking horror metal band, they wear their alter egos’ costumes and manners, spitting blood and biting the air with bestial fierce as the ultimate monsters worshipping the most powerful satanic forces.
From the heart of Italy, horror metallers Deathless Legacy combine hard symphonic solutions and fickle intense vocals to enhance occult, horror dark themes.

Formed in 2006 by singer Steva (Eleonora Vaiana) and drummer Frater Orion (Andrea Falaschi), the band have always focused on offering spectacular shows, introducing theatrical performances filled with pathos. In 2014 Alessio Lucatti (Vision Divine, Angra, Etherna) joined the band and in 2015 Deathless Legacy won the Italian chapter of the Wacken Metal Battle, bringing their show to Wacken Open Air. Deathless Legacy released four albums so far: 'Rise From The Grave' (2014), 'The Gathering' (2016) and 'Dance With Devils' (2017). 'Rituals Of Black Magic' (2018).
The things I had heard about Deathless Legacy were kind of mediocre, either people loved them or they didn’t like them at all. I did not know what to expect when I started listening, but the concept of the album seemed very interesting to me: black magic rituals. Deathless Legacy promises to go way beyond gothic metal clichés, offering a very unique mix of clean and extreme female vocals, symphonic keyboard and synth arrangements and very intense, dark atmospheres. I partly agree with this, the mix between clean and extreme female vocals is actually becoming pretty common and there is nothing wrong with that, but is it unique? No. The same kind of vocals we hear in bands like In This Moment and The Agonist.
I have another love/hate subject with Deathless Legacy. The band features six versatile musicians whose monster/alter egos come from the romantic and modern gothic literature. Although this seems like a great idea and a good way to attract publicity, I do not see the point of it connecting to the music.
Overall, ‘’Rituals of Black Magic’’ is a very solid album. It could have sounded a lot darker though, there is no denying that but the songwriting is very cohesive to the concept. The music quality is great, you can see Deathless Legacy has progressed and becomes more professional looking and sounding with each record. I’d rate ‘’Rituals of Black Magic’’ an 8 out of 10.
